The summit for cities and urban innovation will gather representatives from cities and corporations
Smart City Live (SCL) the innovative digital edition of Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) for 2020 will become the platform where top representatives from both the public and private sectors will discuss together the best strategies to overcome the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and what must metropolises do to improve their resiliency in the coming future.
The event will gather these key players to discuss through digital workshops and roundtables the crucial topics and challenges that cities are facing both in the short-term context arisen by the pandemic, with improvements in mobility, consumption, healthcare and services, as well as those already planned for the mid-term including policy and infrastructure changes to increase their readiness towards future threats.
The confirmed representatives from cities, regions and countries include Ada Colau, Mayor of Barcelona, Lori Lightfoot, Mayor of Chicago; Daniel Quintero, Mayor of Medellín; Michael Müller, Mayor of Berlin and President of Metropolis; Mohamed Boudra, Mayor of Al Hoceima and President of UCLG; Takuya Hirai, Minister for Digital Transformation, Social Security, Tax Number System and Information Technology Policy – Government of Japan; Jess Scully, Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney (Australia); and Theo Blackwell, Chief Digital Officer of London.
In addition, delegations from Aicep – Portugal, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain), Germany, Belgium, Diputació de Barcelona (Spain), Dit + Bournemouth ((United Kingdom), Enterprise Estonia, Government of Catalonia, Icex (Spain), Kotra (South Korea), Luxembourg, Nordic Countries and the Zhejiang region (China), have also confirmed their participation in SCL.
The private sector will also take part in the summit and companies such as Alcatel Lucent, AMB, Axis, China Unicom, Deloitte, Enel-X, Engie, FIA, Huawei, Keolis, Mastercard, Microsoft, Nokia, RACC, SAP, Seat, Siemens, Shanghai Oriental Group, Smart Ports and Sorigue, among others, will explain some of the tools and success stories they have been able to develop these past months.
New two-day digital format
Smart City Live will gather the leading actors, institutions and international experts on smart cities in a new virtual and interactive format comprising two different blocks including a full-day live television show broadcasted on November 17 through the event’s website and social media, and second day program featuring online workshops and side events. Participants will also interact and answer the questions from attendees and all sessions will be stored and available for SCL registered users in the Tomorrow.City platform that Fira de Barcelona and Mediapro have jointly developed.
