Russia facing shortage of antibiotics

January 31, 2023 By admin Leave a Comment

Russia has faced a sharp decline in the import of antibiotics. The supplies of key penicillin-series drugs have fallen by 30-60%. Domestic production has also dropped by 40%. In Russia, the decline in the import and production of antibiotics has raised alarm bells and has led to concerns over the country’s ability to combat infectious diseases. The sharp drop in imports and production can be attributed to a combination of factors such as sanctions, the shortage of raw materials, restrictions on imports due to regulatory requirements, and the economic impact of Russian invasion to Ukraine.
